Is brainstorming enough?

Over the last few weeks, I found myself editing my first 5 pages of research more than adding anything new to them. This was completely fine because I had planned what I was going to write about for the next 5 pages and decided I was going to get working on them today. However, when I opened the doc and tried to start writing something new, I found that I couldn't really think straight and that even though I had brainstormed what to write, the thoughts that I wanted to put into words weren't really flowing into my head, and I just found myself sat on my chair staring at the space between my last paragraph and the work cited page. It was as if my mind had gone blank and this was the worst time possible because I wanted to get some work done on my paper so that I could worry about it less. Right now I don't know what to do so I am going to get off my laptop which I have been on all day and I will get something to eat and come back later to give it another shot.
